I ended up in a music store on the weekend. Not for me, but for a family member. I haven't bought a CD in....I can't remember when. Years I think *ducks* (And before you ask, no downloading either - my computer and internet connection are [currently] too slow.) However, while in the music store I was impulsive, which for me is very unusual, and bought U2's latest album - No Line On The Horizon.

I'm a huge U2 fan. I've been lucky enough to see them in concert three times, and each time I have left hoarse but absolutely blow away. If I had to pick my favourite song I could (just) narrow it down to three:

- Bad

- One Tree Hill

- Running to Stand Still

You've got to cry without weeping, talk without speaking, scream without raising your voice. You know I took the poison from the poison stream. Then I floated out of here ...She will suffer the needle chill. She is running to stand still.
The lyrics are always so evocative. So, what was the last album you bought/downloaded and/or the last concert you were to?

  1. Shall I really, really, really embarrass myself? The last album I bought (and the only album I've ever bought on iTunes) was Abba Gold. I'd just watched Mama Mia and was feeling nostalgic.

Love your U2 choices. They have written some amazing songs. I look forward to hearing what the new album is like.

  2. I watched Mama Mia earlier this year and loved it! I heard rumours of a sequel, but I'm not so sure.

Oh, and I have lent your lovely husband the album :)

  3. Last CD I bought was er....the new Prince triple cd set, my BIL burned me a copy of the new U2, Katy Perry, & er..the newest Cold Play was given to me. Concerts? let me think: the Eagles & Prince & Peter Paul & Mary.

  4. Oh, U2 is my all time favorite band. I've seen them 4 times since 1985. Even made a "pilgrimage" to their recording studio in Dublin in 1988, and left my mark on the graffiti wall that was there. lol
Though I listen to their new stuff from time to time, I have to admit that the old stuff is still my favorite.

God, I had to ask my husband what the last concert was that we went to! Last summer (or the summer before?) we went to "reggae night" at the Hollywood Bowl, and UB40 was there. Great concert!

I borrow cd's from the library more than buying them, and the last one I requested (still waiting for it) is by Jason Mraz, We sing, we dance, we steal things.

  5. I haven't bought/downloaded a CD in a loooong time because I'm trying to save money. But I did just upload one of my mom's CDs last night--My One and Only Thrill by Melody Gardot. It is a great jazz album. Before that my little brother made me a CD from Save Ferris.

  6. I love U2 but prefer their older music. I've seen them in concert 3 times and they were totally fab each time. Favourite U2 songs are 'Where The Streets Have No Name', 'Sweetest Thing', 'Beautiful Day' and 'When Love Comes To Town'

Last CD I bought was The Great New Zealand Songbook just a couple of weeks ago. I used to buy CD's just about every week, but don't buy anywhere near as many as I used too!

I think the last concert I went to was Billy Joel and Elton John when they toured together a few years ago.

  7. Bookwormon - I bet the Eagles in concert was amazing. And thinking of Peter, Paul and Mary had Morning Town running through my head while I was in the shower this morning. They sang that, didn't they?

Renee - I like their older stuff too :) And you went to their recording studio! *SIGH* I so should have added that to the list of places to go when I went to Dublin. I did go to the Guinness Factory :) Hmmm...perhaps when I am able to scan photos I should include some travel posts? What does everyone think?

Heidenkind - I haven't listened to much jazz. Is there a good place to start?

Last CD I bought was The Great New Zealand Songbook just a couple of weeks ago.

Ohhh, I've heard about that ShellBell! I'll have to look into it. Is it good? A mix of new and old?

  8. It's a mix of older and new. I only bought the CD because it had a couple of songs on it that I wanted (Always On My Mind by Tiki Taane, Bathe In the Rive by Hollie Smith and Not Many by Scribe) and and I'm not a huge fan of downloading songs/

  9. Ahhh, thank you ShellBell! I have to say I love 'Always On My Mind' (Tiki Taane), mostly because the BNZ advert with the pigs is incredibly cute. How sad am I?

  10. Not sad at all, those little pigs are so cute! The ad is certainly a 'feel good' one and the song really suits it.

Bought 2 more CD's yesterday - Right Here by Boh Runga and the new U2 one. Currently listening to, and enjoying, Right Here.
