Spring

I know that for most of you autumn has arrived, but here in the Land of the Long White Cloud it is spring! Finally! (It's been a long, cold winter....and it isn't leaving without a final goodbye! [It's currently raining!]) And because it is spring the blossom is beginning to appear...and I thought I would share it!

Found on: My plum tree!

I adore spring. The days get longer...and warmer. The bees are about (there is nothing like a happy bee drowning in blossom nectar) and the smell of freshly cut grass lingers. There is...promise in the air :)

So, whatever the season approaching, what do you like (or dislike) most about it?

  1. We're still in late summer - it's been in the upper 80s for the past few days! Although it looks like the highs later in the week aren't even going to hit 60F, plus the nights are definitely hitting chilly (lower 40s/upper 30s) (aka good sleeping weather).

I like the lack of humidity in fall, which we've been blessed with in this lovely late summer.

  2. I hate fall. The days get shorter and it gets colder, and I have to wear SOCKS. I hate socks. I wish it would just be summer all the time.

  3. Chris - late summer is good. You get those warm days, but crisp nights. (As you said, good sleeping weather :) Ahh, humidity. Always something I look forward to in February - NOT! Where I live is notorious for its high humidity.

heidenkind - ohhhh :( *hugs* I don't mind socks so much...except when it's too hot to wear them *grin* and I love my ugg boots in winter!

  4. It's almost fall here. Unfortunately! I prefer spring and summer, although where I am now won't get all that cold during the fall and winter, but I'll have to wear jeans and a sweater, at least, so it's still far too cold! At any rate, pumpkin! That's what I like most about fall!

  5. I love Fall/Autumn because of the cooler weather and the changing of the leaves on the trees. Unfortunately I don't live in a place where that actually happens. It's still pretty warm here until late Oct. and then it just gets cold instead of chilly. The leaves go from green to brown and then fall off. *sigh* I love So. Cal. but I really wish we had more seasons. lol

  6. The weather has been milder here lately. I think it got up to 86 today. I love spring, and I like fall because of the milder temperatures. Winter is not my friend. I hate driving on icy roads. Summer is fine as long as the AC works.

  8. Shell - I must confess that I prefer spring and summer, but...there's nothing like lying in bed listening to rain on the roof, all warm from the fire... And pumpkin? *shakes head* More for you :)

Tracy - where I am has the same...non-seasons. When I lived in London the seasons wer far more defined - the colours in autumn were amazing!

Eyre - 86 is *calculates* 30 degrees Celsius. That's toasty :) Because of where I am there is no ice or snow on the roads - thank goodness! It looks scary to drive through!

  9. Orannia, I'm so glad you're enjoying spring! My favorite season is autumn. I love the crisp cool air, lovely blue skies and the amazing colors everywhere. Nature's last gorgeous hurrah before naked, frigid, grey winters. :)

  10. Hils - I hear you on the clear blue skies and crisp air in autumn. And...rather brilliantly (of nature) you get that at the very beginning of spring, but with the promise of warmth. *hugs*

  11. When I went for my lunchtime walk today, it was 30F cooler than when I went on Monday! (Now 55F, was 85F on Monday.) Quite the shock to the system.

  12. OK, that's a BIG drop! *shivers* After our lovely sun-filled days one week ago it's all rain. Ahhh, the unpredictability of spring :)

  13. Ooo! Plum blossoms! What other fruits do you have growing on your property? Was it apricots?

I love the change of all the seasons... although I'm not a fan of hot and humid like we get in the summers here. I don't mind hot... it's the humidity that I dread.

Right now I'm happy for the new cool temps of fall. I also like the changes the seasons bring to the table. I don't eat soups or stews or roasts in the summer so I'm excited to start making those dishes now. And I like running in the fall too... I can go faster and longer when it's not as hot outside.

I love the first snowfall of winter, too. I get excited like a kid anticipating snow days. lol
